Rhineland   Dogface Soldiers : Rhineland

The Seventh Army took control of the Heppenheim hospital prison camp in Germany on March 27, 1945. Many Third Division soldiers were among the 300 American prisoners liberated. The hospital was built in 1866 to serve as an insane asylum. During 1940-41, Jewish patients were assembled here on route to execution.
