Ambulance C-11 of the 3rd Medical Battalion ends its ferry ride on the Rhine River near Worms. The ambulance was in service in North Africa and rode with the Third Division to Austria making it a likely candidate as the most-driven WWII ambulance in Europe. Driver Dell Thornton's notes say the bank was steep, muddy and slippery and all four tires were spinning ... a camerman trying to get a picture helped push and when the ambulance got momentum he jumped into action to try and take another picture. |
