The Third Division headquarters' sign in Bad Wildungen displays the division's campaigns with the Croix de Guerre and Presidential Unit Citation. The division returned to the U.S. in November 1946. From its origins during the First World War through the Second World War, the Korean War, Kuwait in 1990 and currently in Iraq, the U.S. Third Division ranks as one of the best American fighting units in history.
