The breakout from Anzio kicked off at 0545 on May 23 with a 45-minute artillery barrage on the Cisterna front. The VI Corps-led offensive thrust the American First Armored Division along with the Third, 45th and 36th infantry divisions into the fray. In their path were left these two KO'd German Pz.Kpfw Panzer Tanks.
