The Germans offered their own strange invention at Anzio, the "Goliath" mini-tank, seen here among overturned oil drums. The tracked vehicles were filled with explosives and guided into position by remote control. Due to the flat terrain, the American soldiers were able to explode a tank with concentrated small arms fire before it reached their positions.
